Trailblazer First Week of School
The first week of school was filled with old friends, new faces, anticipation, and excitement. The “new” Trailblazer pod is beautiful and the students are really enjoying our classroom and hallway spaces. We spent our first week of school getting to know each other and setting up our classroom communities.
Our first Science unit of the school year is about the History of the Earth and focuses on how the surface of the earth has changed over time. During our first week of school, the students had a blast exploring the different types of plate boundaries with Snickers bars as our model. Students were asked to push, slide, or break their Snickers bar and make observations about how the surface of the candy changed. We then linked their observations to the three types of plate boundaries. The conversations were great, and really who doesn’t love working with candy?
If you haven’t already, be sure to set up your SeeSaw account so you can see what your child has posted since school started. This will be a great tool for staying connected this school year!
