In-Person & Virtual Learners Eligible
Families: All 5th through 8th grade students at Renaissance are eligible to participate in athletics. This includes distance learners. Please see the announcements below for the latest developments. Thank you.
For the 2020-2021 school year only – the Athletics Fee for all sports will be $40. This fee will be in place for all families. Questions should be directed to the school’s athletic director: Mr. McCausey.
Families: We will be following the recommendation from the MHSAA that all student-athletes from the previous year that have physicals on file at the school will be able to use those physicals for this year. Student-athletes that do not have a physical on file from the previous school year must attain a physical for this school year in order to participate in athletics.
Fall Athletics Update (August 5, 2020)
Families: We continue to monitor the ever-changing and uncertain times that we are currently living in. The MHSAA guidelines have been released for Fall Sports Return to Practice. You can read those guidelines yourself by going to their website (MHSAA.com) and choose the “sports” tab. Click the sport you want to know about, and you will be able to read the latest released guidelines.
At this time, the MHSAA has not released guidelines for Spectators or Return to Play. This is anticipated to be released on August 20. We will wait until those guidelines have been released before we determine what our spectator guidelines will be and what sports we can move forward with at Renaissance this Fall.
As of this moment, our plan is to move forward with Cross Country and Volleyball with very strict guidelines that must be followed. Those guidelines will be released when we know more. Ideally, we would like our cross country team to start “practices” next week, but more things need to be figured out before we can start. We appreciate everyone’s continued patience. The safety and well-being of our student-athletes and staff is our top priority. Keep checking back often for possible updates. Thank you.
Mt. Pleasant High School Summer Sports Schedule
Families with an outgoing 8th grade student athlete may be interested in the following Mt. Pleasant High School summer schedule.
Families: Please make sure that you wash and have your uniform ready to turn in next fall. I am hoping that we can collect them before next fall, but as of right now, let’s plan for that. Most of you have an old uniform and a brand new uniform. We will collect both sets. 8th grade student-athletes should drop yours off at the school, as soon as the stay at home orders have been lifted.
Thank you ~ Athletic Department
