It is our hope that we will be able to offer this club and begin in two weeks.  Thank you for your support and understanding.

If you have any questions, please contact Mr. McCausey.

MMSL Cancels Girls Basketball Season

Attention Families & Students (5th – 8th):  The MMSL has made the decision to not have a girls basketball season this year.

The goal of the MMSL is a return to “normal” for the 2021/22 school year.  As updates become available, I will post them here on the website.

Boys Basketball Update 3/2

The MMSL has decided to not extend the season beyond spring break.  Therefore, there will NOT be a league tournament this year.

The league hopes that a “return to normal” will be able to happen in the 2021/22 school year.  Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Boys Basketball Update 2/22

ALL PRIOR GUIDELINES AND PRECAUTIONS REMAIN IN PLACE.  If you do not remember what those are, please watch the basketball informational video as a refresher.

Anyone in the gymnasium must have a mask on at all times (Officials have the option with medical clearance).  Student-athletes will be temperature and health screened each day prior to practice…just as before…and when they enter on game days (as will the visiting team).

When entering, please scan the QR-code that will be posted at the entrance.  This is mandated by the health department for contact tracing purposes.  Thank you for your support, patience, and kindness.

For home events, only 2 spectators are allowed per student athlete (just as before).  And spectators must remain in designated areas in the bleachers (just as before).

Questions should be directed to Mr. McCausey (athletic director) or Mr. McConnell (assistant athletic director).  Thank you.

Boys Basketball Pictures

The Boys Basketball Pictures are at the school.  They can be picked up from 9am to 2pm (during business hours) at the school.  Many of them have already been picked up.  If you have not picked up your pictures, please do so.  Thank you.

Spectator Admittance Update! 9/16/20

Attention Families & Athletes: As of today (9/16), for Renaissance Home Events, we will allow TWO SPECTATORS per athlete.  Please follow the guidelines below:

At all Renaissance Home Games – there will be a table set up just inside or outside the NORTH gym entrance.  Admittance Fees will be the normal fee of $3/adult $2/child (ages 6-17), and 5 & under is free.  Doors will NOT open until 30 minutes prior to an event’s start time.
We will have a sheet at the door with the roster list of athletes for each team…and when they pay and enter, we will ask who they are there to watch.  ONLY TWO people will be permitted per athlete.  Also – the bleachers will be marked to indicate where spectators may sit.  Sanitizer will be available at the entrance.  Everyone in the gymnasium must wear a mask.  Spectators not wearing a mask will be asked to leave.  This is not something that will be “enjoyable” to enforce…therefore, I ask that all in attendance respect the guidelines.
Once in the gym, we ask that 1) All masks remain on at all times (unless taking a drink), 2) Spectators remain socially distanced in a designated seating area, and 3) the school building is off limits…everyone must remain in the gymnasium or outdoors.
When there are two games being played in one evening, at the end of the first game, the facility will be cleared so that sanitation and cleaning may take place.  Our goal is to accomplish this in 20 minutes.  At that time, the doors will be reopened, and admittance for the second game will begin.  If you are a spectator for both games, you will not have to repay to enter…as long as you have your stamp.
We also ask that everyone be respectful, understanding, patient, and remain socially distanced at all times.  If you cannot follow these guidelines, we ask that you remain outside of the gymnasium.
All questions should be directed to the athletic director, Mr. McCausey –
Thank you

Student Athlete Drop-off (for practice and games)

When dropping student athletes off for practice and competition, the crosswalks should be used at all times.  Student athletes should not be walking in and out of traffic in the parking lot.  Walk directly to a crosswalk and cross at that point.  This is for the safety of everyone.  Thank you for your cooperation.

In-Person & Distance Learners Eligible

Families: All 5th through 8th grade students at Renaissance are eligible to participate in athletics.  This includes distance learners.  Please see the announcements below for the latest developments.  Thank you.

Athletics Fees

For the 2020-2021 school year only – the Athletics Fee for all sports will be $40.  This fee will be in place for all families.  Questions should be directed to the school’s athletic director: Mr. McCausey.

Athletic Physicals

Families: We will be following the recommendation from the MHSAA that all student-athletes from the previous year that have physicals on file at the school will be able to use those physicals for this year.  Student-athletes that do not have a physical on file from the previous school year must attain a physical for this school year in order to participate in athletics.
